Metropolis of Belgium celebrated the feast of Saint Nektarios, Bishop of Pentapolis.
On the afternoon of November 8, 2021, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium presided over the solemn Vespers in the Parish of Mons, which is celebrated in St. Nektarios, with the participation of clergy from the neighboring church and many believers. The memory of the saint was honored by the presence of the Greek Military Representative at the NATO Headquarters (SHAPE) in Mons Vice Admiral Symeon-Charalambos, head of a multi-member team from the Greek Delegation to SHAPE.
At the end of Vespers, the Metropolitan, after thanking the Hierarchical Head of the Parish for the pastoral work he performs and the other clergy for their presence, as well as the military delegation, referred briefly to St. Nektarios and the love which he showed to his slanderers as well as the spiritual relationship that the blessed Patriarch Athenagoras had with the saint when he served in Athens as Archdeacon of Archbishop Meletios Metaxakis.
The next day, November 9, Metropolitan Athenagoras presided over the Divine Liturgy in the also celebrating Parish of St. Nektarios in Beringen with the participation of the priests of the parishes of the province of Limburg.
The Metropolitan in his sermon referred to the life of the saint. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Athenagoras thanked the Hierarchical Head of the Parish for his pastoral work and the collaborating priests for their participation in the festival as well as the faithful who came to honor the beloved Saint Nektarios.
