On Sunday, December 6, 2020, a Divine Liturgy and an artoklasia were officiated at the celebrating Church of Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra in Lycia at Kapiri Mposhi, Zambia.
After the completion of the works of the Spiritual Center, the Holy Temple houses the Missionary activities of the local church with the prospect of functioning as a Missionary Center of Central Zambia after the completion of the building works.
The Temple was built 55 years ago by the Palamidis family, remained closed for many years and was later occupied by Protestant denominations.
For the last two years, Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia, has sent the native priest of the Diocese, Fr. Sylvester, who loves Orthodoxy and tradition and is doing a remarkable missionary work.
The Orthodox Mission has always had a remarkable position in relation to the cultures it encountered and in which the Gospel was embodied.
In order for the Gospel to be experienced in its universal dimension, in every place and in every age, it must be adapted to the mental and cultural conditions of the people. Each nation is called upon to activate its own expression in order to make the “Gospel” truly its own.
Last year the first baptisms took place in the Temple and the first parish was created.
The ecclesiastical committee of the Holy Temple of St. Andrew Copperbelt participated in the Feast of the Temple, as well as humble, respectful and cooperative people who offered to the community from the surplus of their love.
