The Archieratical Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Exaltation of the Precious Cross was concelebrated yesterday by Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria, Bishop Markos of Kisumu and Bishop Nikodimos of Nitria in the parish of Saint Savvas in Old Nicosia, which is exarchate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Cyprus.
With the blessing of the Archbishop of Cyprus, Father Dionysios Charitakis was ordained as Archimandrite by Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria. In order to reward Father Dionysios Charitakis for his service at the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Patriarch bestowed the offikion of Archimandrite upon him.
The Patriarch of Alexandria pointed out that the presence of the Patriarchate in Cyprus was mainly due to the love of the Archbishop of Cyprus, who “strengthens the work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, both materially and spiritually.”
Referring to the great despotic feast of the Exaltation of the Precious Cross, the Patriarch said: “This love, this hope that springs from the Cross of our Lord accompanies us throughout the year to come, every year. And as we say this year, the Precious Cross is being elevated in the midst of the pandemic, it is a telegram from Christ that we are dust, a handful of dust full of God.
I came to our exarchate in this cradle of the Alexandrian Patriarchate to thank from the bottom of my heart Chrysostom II of Cyprus who opened his heart and gave me a church, receive with open arms here in Cyprus so that I can officiate the services, to greet you, to give you the antidoron, to listen to you, to listen to me and to walk with my children in the endless missions.
Moreover, addressing a few words of advice to the newly ordained Archimandrite, the Patriarch said: “Take my wish, walk in peace in this sacred place in the Archdiocese of Cyprus and, as I told you, open your arms for everyone, either adults or children, either rich or poor, either famous or unknown, with a smile on your face and a big hope in your heart.”
