Reverend Father Dennis P. Strouzas, beloved priest, fell asleep in the Lord on January 12, 2025. Fr. Strouzas, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and Pastor-Emeritus, served the Archangel Michael community in Port Washington, NY from 1984 through 2016, leading the development of a community that started with thirty families and now serves 700 families.
Under the humble, loving, and spiritual guidance of Fr. Dennis, with his Presbytera by his side, in 2004 the community purchased its current property in Port Washington, moving from Roslyn, and celebrated the first Divine Liturgy in 2009, with the Consecration in 2015. In June 2016, Fr. Strouzas retired from active ministry, but priests never actually retire, as he continued to serve our Holy Church in many ways. For over thirty years, with his Presvytera Paula by his side and their children Peter and Maria, Fr. Dennis, as a good shepherd, guided the flock of the Archangel Michael Community with great faith, love, wisdom, and sacrifice.
An eloquent speaker, a manager of all the different organizations in the church, and a mentor and spiritual father to many priests, the genuineness and realness of the ministry of Fr. Dennis and Presvytera Paula cannot be better expressed than through the lives of their children and their families and the great love the community has for him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Presvytera Paula, his loving children Peter & his wife Elizabeth and Maria & her husband Dr. John Koutsoyiannis; his adored grandchildren Sofia, Vivian and Niko Dennis Strouzas, and Paula Anaïs Koutsoyiannis.
May the Lord grant eternal rest to our beloved Fr. Dennis.
