The Parish of St. Nicholas in Marrickville, Sydney, recently undertook a pilgrimage to the Holy Monastery of St. George of the Mountain in Yellow Rock, New South Wales, on the occasion of its feast day.
The faithful attended the Divine Liturgy with reverence and devotion, celebrated by Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis, Abbot of the Monastery.
Following the service, His Grace warmly welcomed Fr. Irenaeus Trialonakis, parish priest of St. Nicholas, and the pilgrims. He spoke about the history of the Monastery and the miraculous icon of the Theotokos Kytrinopetritissa.
Afterward, in the monastery’s guest hall, Fr. Irenaeus expressed heartfelt thanks to His Grace for his fatherly words, hospitality, and love, extending his prayers that St. George, the Monastery’s patron saint, would continue to strengthen the monastic community in their spiritual mission.
At the conclusion of the visit, Bishop Iakovos offered a blessing to all pilgrims, urging them to remember the monasteries in their prayers, to light a candle first for Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and then for the monastic fathers who serve faithfully at the monastery.
