An explosion was heard today near the Russian Consulate in Marseille, southern France, prompting an immediate response from firefighters, according to local media reports. The French police have not yet officially confirmed the incident.
However, Stanislav Oransky, the Russian Consul General in Marseille, stated that the explosion occurred inside the consulate building, as reported by Russian news outlet RBC.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted strongly, asserting that the explosion bore the characteristics of a terrorist attack. The TASS news agency, citing the Russian government, reported that multiple “explosions” were heard and called on French authorities to take all necessary measures to investigate the incident thoroughly.
