Archbishop Elpidophoros of America recently met with Deacon Marek Simon, Executive Director of Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF), the official campus ministry of the Orthodox Church.
Their discussion centered on OCF’s Campus Missionary Initiative—a bold new vision that is transforming college ministry. With full-time missionaries now serving at Texas A&M University, Arizona State University, and in Atlanta, these chapters have experienced remarkable growth, with student participation increasing by over 500%.
At Texas A&M, more than 150 students took part this year in Bible studies, Sunday dinners, fellowship events, small groups, retreats, and service opportunities. Arizona State University, launched through the support of a Leadership 100 grant, welcomed 86 students in its first year, representing a more than 200% increase.
Looking ahead, OCF plans to expand this initiative nationwide, building a network of campus missionaries to walk with students during their college years. Through this work, the next generation of Orthodox leaders is being formed in a Christ-centered community. Deacon Marek expressed heartfelt thanks to Archbishop Elpidophoros, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and Leadership 100 for their continued support.
