Reactions have been provoked by the issue that was first highlighted in an article by orthodoxtimes.com, regarding the appointment of an Exarch Metropolitan in Dioceses with old hierarchs, or hierarchs who face serious health problems.
According to information from orthodoxtimes.com, the issue was discussed during today’s meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate held in the Phanar.
There, dissatisfaction was expressed for this initiative of the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, as it is likely to affect the Dioceses of the New Countries.
In fact, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is going to send a letter to Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece, in which he will express his dissatisfaction and opposition to the decision of the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.
