An Exarchate of the Ecumenical Patriarchate visited the Autonomous Church of Finland from 7 to 12 April to jointly examine vital ecclesiastical issues.
The Patriarchal Exarchate consisted of Metropolitan Stephanos of Tallinn and All Estonia and Bishop Makarios of Christoupolis.
“The common understanding and belief of both Exarchs and Archbishop Leo and his Hierarchs is that the Church must move in peace and unity and certainly in accordance with the Divine and Sacred Canons and the applicable Legislation. However, the law, which is called upon to settle practical matters of particular nature, cannot be against the Sacred Canons and the teaching of the Orthodox Church,” the joint communiqué reads among others.
