On Wednesday, April 27, St John’s College in Victoria was honored to host the Greek Presidential Guards for our ANZAC Day memorial assembly.
The Senior School drummers entered the assembly ahead of the special guests – Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, Reverend Father John Frangos, Reverend Fathers, Tony Tsourdalakis, Jim Grivas, and Major Vasileios Sakelaropoulos and Sergeant Major Efthimios Theodorou.
The College Senior Chanting group chanted “Christ is Risen”/“Χριστός Ανέστη”, as well as a memorial hymn for those who have lost their lives during the war under the direction of Mr. Vaios Anastossopoulos.
A wreath was laid by Helena P. and Major Vasileios Sakelaropoulos, and students stood for 1 minute in silence to show respect to the servicemen and women who have lost their life.
Major Vasileios Sakelaropoulos and Sergeant Major Efthimios Theodorou spoke to the students, staff, and visitors about the Evzones Military uniform and the role and importance of the Presidential Guard.
A special thank you gift was presented to the Major by Kayla Z. and Maria A. and the Major presented the College Principal Anna Urban with a special gift also.
