The European Union announced today the provision of €120 million in humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip, following the ceasefire agreement reached yesterday, Wednesday, in the Palestinian enclave.
This aid aims to address the “catastrophic situation” in Gaza, a European Commission spokesperson clarified during the daily press briefing in Brussels. The package includes emergency food assistance, medical aid, and equipment to improve access to clean drinking water, as outlined in a statement by the European Commission.
Additionally, approximately 3,800 tons of humanitarian aid have already been transported by air to support the people of Gaza.
The EU welcomed the announcement of the ceasefire agreement yesterday and expressed hope that it will enable “better access to humanitarian assistance.” A Commission spokesperson emphasized that the EU aims to ensure that “this aid will be effectively distributed to those in need.”
Crisis Management Commissioner Hadja Lahbib held discussions in Brussels today with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa. “We discussed the immense needs in Gaza and the West Bank and the means to address them,” the Commissioner stated in a social media post on X, adding that she plans to visit the Palestinian territories soon.
