Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to the latest Greek Navtex with a barrage of threats, stressing that “from today Greece will be responsible for all conflicts in the region and will be at a disadvantage.”
Following the cabinet meeting, the Turkish president said that “first and foremost, Greece does not have the right to declare a Navtex in the region.” He even claimed that the Greek Navtex endangers coastal, navigational safety of all ships in the region.
At the same time, he stated that “discovery of natural gas reserves in off the Black Sea coast is a prelude to upcoming good news from the Mediterranean.”
Once again, Erdogan, wanting on the one hand to degrade Greece and on the other to attack other… enemies, said: “The ones who throw Greece in front of the Turkish navy will not stand behind them.”
“Greece will be the only one to suffer,” the Turkish president said, adding that “Turkey’s navy will not back down in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.”
