On the feast day of the Holy Hieromartyr Macarius, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Rus, May 1, 2026, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Volodymyr in Kyiv, during which Archimandrite Onufriy (Liada) was ordained Bishop of Dubno.
Concelebrating with the Primate of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine were numerous hierarchs, including the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine, Bishop Michael of Komana, as well as metropolitans, archbishops, bishops, clergy, and invited guests.
During the service, special prayers were offered for Ukraine, its people, and its defenders, as the country continues to endure difficult trials. Prayers were also offered for the repose of those who lost their lives in the war.
Following the Gospel reading, the Metropolitan delivered a homily and later addressed the newly ordained Bishop Onufriy, presenting him with the pastoral staff and offering spiritual guidance.
Short bio
Bishop Onufriy (born Taras Bohdanovych Liada) was born on March 24, 1991, in Dobrostany, Lviv region.
He studied at the Lviv Orthodox Theological Academy, where he earned a Master’s degree in Theology.
In 2012, he was tonsured a monk by Metropolitan Hilarion of Rivne and ordained hierodeacon and later hieromonk.
He served as abbot of the Holy Resurrection Monastery in Hurbyny and held various pastoral and administrative responsibilities.
In 2026, he was elected Bishop of Dubno, vicar of the Rivne Diocese.
