Metropolitan Epiphanius referred to the future of the new Church of Ukraine, during the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the “honorary” Patriarch Filaret Denyshenko.
The Head of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine said that the new Church will receive the status of a Patriarchate after overcoming all the obsolete divisions and contradictions in Ukrainian Orthodoxy, but also when it receives recognition from all local Churches.
Metropolitan Epiphanius also said that he would continue to build a united Autocephalous Church jointly with the “honorary” Patriarch Filaret.
“We have to overcome divisions, overcome the controversies and contradictions relating to the Ukrainian Orthodoxy for almost three decades. We were blessed to receive the Tomos of autocephaly from the Ecumenical Patriarch, and when the time comes to unite with all local Churches, we will be granted the status of the Patriarchate,” stressed Metropolitan Epiphanius.
Moreover, Metropolitan Epiphanius made clear that the most important thing is that the Orthodox Church of Ukraine must serve God with dignity, to lead the faithful to salvation, to work for unity, peace and harmony of the Ukrainian people.
