A rare moment was captured on camera at the inauguration of a statue of Archangel Michael, patron saint of Kyiv, in the center of the Ukrainian capital on Saturday.
The event, which was attended by representatives of the political leaders of Ukraine as well as religious leaders of various denominations, was also attended by Metropolitan Epifaniy, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and Metropolitan Onufriy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Moscow.
During the event, the two hierarchs greeted each other warmly, notwithstanding the differences that separate them.
The press office of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine reported that Metropolitan Epifaniy as head of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches, welcomed all religious leaders, including Onufriy.
