On Sunday, November 24, the enthronement of Bishop Nektarije as the first Metropolitan of London took place at the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava in London. The historic event was presided over by Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia and marked the formal establishment of the new Metropolitanate of London within the Serbian Orthodox Church, created in May to address the pastoral needs of the Serbian diaspora in the region.
A Historic Occasion
The enthronement ceremony was attended by hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, representatives of other Orthodox Churches, and officials from Serbia and the United Kingdom. Patriarch Porfirije urged the newly enthroned Metropolitan Nektarije to undertake his mission with humility and repentance, emphasizing the spiritual significance of his role. In his address, Metropolitan Nektarije highlighted the importance of his ministry and the challenges of shepherding the faithful in a multicultural and diverse society.

King Charles III sent his congratulations on the occasion, expressing hope that the newly established Metropolitanate would strengthen the bonds between the Churches and peoples of Serbia and England.
