Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon presided over the Second Stasis of Salutations to the Most Holy Theotokos, on Friday, March 26, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Chalcedon.
The service took place earlier due to the restrictive measures applied in the country as of Friday afternoon.
The service was attended by members of the Committee and Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, important figures from Greece, including Criminologist Sakis Kechagioglou, as well as many faithful of the region who welcomed their newly elected shepherd with emotion. The COVID-19 protective measures and the relevant social distancing measures were strictly observed.
The Elder Metropolitan of Chalcedon referred to the role of the Virgin Mary in the salvation of humankind and referred to the feast of the Annunciation that was celebrated yesterday. He briefly offered an explanation regarding the Akathist Hymn and referred to its rich theological content.
