It was the first time in the modern history of the monastery that attracted the attention of so many government officials and diplomatic representations from around the world. They visited the monastery together, admired the katholikon of the Holy Monastery, where the sepulchres of relics are kept. They were warmly welcomed by Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Faran and Raitho and were impressed by the sacristy and the famous library.
At that same time, about one hundred journalists and people from the press and television, both from Egypt and abroad, covered live all the events in the wider area. This attracted the attention of the Egyptian media and this annual international meeting became one of the most important topics.
The events were posted on the official website of the president of Egypt which even included photos of the ministers’ visits to the Saint Catherine’s Monastery, in particular, photos with the ministers inside the historic katholikon of the Greek Monastery. Near the entrance, there were the flag of Greece, of Egypt and of the Holy Monastery.
