An official statement issued by the Ecumenical Patriarchate has put an end to speculation regarding the alleged suspension of Bishop Damaskinos of Dorylaeum.
According to local media reports, the document was issued on Thursday and states that the Bishop of Dorylaeum is not under suspension. It further clarifies that no other ecclesiastical penalty of any kind is pending against him.
According to available information, the certification was requested by the Bishop himself in response to rumors that had circulated in Chania over the past several months.
Attention is now turning to the reaction of the Metropolis of Kydonia and Apokoronas in light of the Patriarchate’s now formally and publicly expressed position regarding Bishop Damaskinos, as well as to any developments that may follow concerning the Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity.
