Dozens of pilgrims arrived from Crete today, and in particular from Chania, in Constantinople for the ordination of newly-elected Bishop Damaskinos of Dorylaion.
The second-largest church in Constantinople, the Church of Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Mega Revma, was full of clergymen and people.
The Ecumenical Patriarch spoke highly of Bishop Damaskinos, “You from the Church of Crete, but also we from the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected a worthy Bishop, who will serve the Lord and the people. May he live long.”
Archbishop Eirinaios of Crete expressed his great joy for the ordination of Damaskinos, “I have no greater joy than to attend the ordination of Bishop Damaskinos by the Ecumenical Patriarch in Constantinople. May he live a long life and follow a path that leads to blessing.”
