On Monday, 30 March 2026, the ceremony admitting the Ecumenical Patriarch as a foreign member of the French Academy of Moral and Political Sciences took place at the Institut de France.
Exactly one year ago, the highly honorable news was announced with great joy: the election of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew as a foreign associate member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences of France, occupying the seat previously held by the eminent theologian Joseph Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI of Rome.
The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, signed the relevant decree on April 28, 2025, thereby ratifying the Patriarch’s election.
Today, the Ecumenical Patriarch will be received by President Macron and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
