Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, widely known as the “Green Patriarch” for his long-standing commitment to environmental protection, returned to his native island of Imbros on Tuesday, May 13.
During his visit, the Patriarch took part in a significant ecological initiative held on the beach of Kefalos, highlighting once again his deep concern for the care of creation.
Joining him in the beach clean-up effort were representatives from the Laskaridis Foundation’s “People Trust” initiative, Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos, local school students, members of Imvrian associations from Athens and Thessaloniki, and many local residents.
This collaborative action served as an inspiring example of community engagement and environmental stewardship, aiming to raise awareness and activate local society in the protection and preservation of the island’s natural environment.
