In his message, translated into English, the Patriarch stated:
“The reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris is a powerful symbol of unwavering faith, renewed hope, and profound resilience. On this festive occasion, we express our most sincere joy and gratitude to God. From the centre of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, we raise our prayers, so that this cathedral, dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos and Virgin Mary, may remain a source of peace, unity and reconciliation. May the light of Christ illuminate these sacred walls and inspire those who enter it.”
The Patriarch specifically addressed the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and Archbishop Laurent Ulrich of Paris, expressing fraternal joy at this moment of spiritual renewal.
