In a glittering event in Peristeri, Athens, attended by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Holy Metropolis of Peristeri and the 90th anniversary of the Municipality were celebrated.
The Mayor of Peristeri, Andreas Pachatouridis, presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with the city’s Medal of Merit.
The event featured tributes highlighting the history of the city and the contributions of the Metropolitans who have served the Metropolis of Peristeri.
Earlier, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew participated in the inauguration of the Library of the Metropolis of Peristeri and the opening ceremony of the Holy Monastery of St. Gregory.
Students from local schools presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with souvenirs, and the evening concluded with traditional dances from his homeland, Imbros.
