On Bright Monday, April 21, 2025, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy commemorating the feast of Saint Gregory V, Holy Hieromartyr and Patriarch of Constantinople. This year, the celebration was transferred to the Monday after Pascha, as the saint’s actual feast day coincided with Great Lent.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Grand Protosyncellus, Archimandrite Gregorios, assisted by the Patriarchal Deacon Anatolios Doxastakis.
The service took place in a spirit of Paschal joy and reverence, paying tribute to the memory of St. Gregory V, who was martyred in 1821 and remains a symbol of faith and sacrifice for the Orthodox Church.
