The festive Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Three Holy Hierarchs was celebrated at the Church of the Holy Three Hierarchs, in Thessaloniki, with the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The day, dedicated to the Three Holy Hierarchs—Saint Basil the Great, Saint Gregory the Theologian, and Saint John Chrysostom—constitutes a timeless point of reference for the Orthodox Church, education, and Greek culture. It honors figures who uniquely united theology with learning, faith with the cultivation of the human person, and spiritual life with intellectual formation.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Archimandrite Fr. Photios Zarzavatsakis, General Archieratical Commissioner of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki.
Joining in prayer were the Metropolitans of Nea Krini and Kalamaria Ioustinos, Laodicea Theodoritos, Miletus Apostolos, Vryoula Panteleimon, Ierapytna and Sitia Kyrillos, Forty Churches Andreas, Kitros Georgios, and Thessaloniki Philotheos.
Following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Ecumenical Patriarch offered a memorial prayer for the repose of the souls of departed professors, benefactors, donors, students, and former employees of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, paying tribute to their contribution to the life and history of Greece’s foremost academic institution.
