On October 4, 2021, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, along with Pope Francis, attended the official signing ceremony of the call of religious leaders entitled “Faith and Science: Towards COP26”.
The signing of the text was followed by brief speeches by the Pope, the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Archbishop of Canterbury, as well as representatives of the main religious communities, the Youth and the political, diplomatic and academic domain.
The Ecumenical Patriarch then met in person the Pope and had a cordial fraternal communication on issues of mutual interest.
In the afternoon, the Ecumenical Patriarch spoke at the “Science and Ethics for Happiness Project” meeting about world poverty. The meeting took place at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences under the scientific responsibility of Professor Jeffrey Sachs.
Later, the Ecumenical Patriarch blessed the dinner hosted in his honor by the Ambassador of Greece to the Vatican, Panagiotis Kalogeropoulos, with the participation of Orthodox and Roman Catholic guests.
