On his second day in Athens, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew paid a visit to the Apostoliki Diakonia Boarding School in the Municipality of Agia Varvara. This visit is part of his official engagements during his stay in Greece, emphasizing the Orthodox Church’s active role in collaborating with local communities and educational institutions.
The Ecumenical Patriarch was warmly received by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece. Also present were the Mayor of Agia Varvara, Lambros Michos, Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Zeta Makris, and Secretary General for Religious Affairs Giorgos Kalantzis. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Patriarch to engage in discussions concerning education, social welfare, and the vital role of the Church in supporting the younger generation.
The visit concluded with blessings and expressions of hope for the continued success of the Boarding School’s mission. Both Church leaders and local representatives reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation for the benefit of society.
