On Friday, May 30, 2025, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with Pope Leo XIV at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican.
The two spiritual leaders held warm and cordial discussions focusing on the Pope’s upcoming official visit to Turkey, scheduled to take place later this year, as well as other pressing ecclesiastical matters.
Once again, the atmosphere of the meeting was marked by mutual respect and friendship. At the conclusion of their conversation, Pope Leo graciously received the members of the Patriarchal delegation, offering his blessing and joining them for commemorative photographs.
The Patriarchal entourage included Metropolitan Polycarpos of Italy, Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, Director of the Patriarchal Private Office and Hierological Deacon Anatolios Doxastakis, and the Honorable Archon Grand Chartophylax Panteleimon Vigas.
