In a particularly warm and cordial atmosphere, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr. Giorgos Gerapetritis, on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 30, 2025, at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Phanar.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong ties between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Hellenic Republic, with discussions likely focusing on current issues concerning the Orthodox Church and the Greek diaspora, as well as regional developments and interfaith dialogue.
According to the official program of the visit, on Wednesday, May 1, Minister Gerapetritis will accompany the Ecumenical Patriarch on visits to the historic Theological School of Halki and to the island of Büyükada (Prinkipos), where the Patriarchate maintains active ecclesiastical and educational presence.
On Thursday, May 2, the Greek Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet with representatives of the Greek Orthodox community in Istanbul, as part of his outreach to the diaspora and commitment to supporting Hellenism abroad.
