On the feast day of Saint Germanos, Archbishop of Constantinople (715–730 AD), Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the Balıklı Monastery, where he celebrated a Trisagion service at the grave of his predecessor, Patriarch Germanos IV, the founder of the Holy Theological School of Halki in 1844.
During the memorial service, the Ecumenical Patriarch also offered prayers for the repose of the soul of Patriarch Germanos V, who rests in Chalcedon, as well as for the hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne bearing the name Germanos, including the Metropolitans of Sardis and Pisidia, Aenos, Theodoroupolis, and Tranoupolis.
Prayers were additionally offered for the late Grand Ecclesiarch Germanos (Andreadou), remembered with gratitude by the Mother Church.
