On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by Metropolitan Job of Pisidia and Evlogios, Codicographer of the Holy and Sacred Synod, departed for Rome to attend the enthronement of Pope Leo XIV.
In Rome, Metropolitan Polycarpos of Italy will also join the Patriarchal delegation.
On the morning of Monday, May 19, the Patriarch will have a private meeting and discussion with the Pope and is expected to return to the Phanar late in the evening of the same day.
It is worth noting that Metropolitan Job of Pisidia, who serves in southern Turkey, is the Orthodox co-chairman of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches.
At his departure, the Ecumenical Patriarch was seen off by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, and the Grand Archdeacon Alexander.
