In a cordial atmosphere, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met, today, Friday, November 12, 2021, with the Hierarchy of the Ecumenical Throne in Turkey. The Hierarchy offered Him flowers and sweets, welcomed Him on the occasion of His return from America, and wished Him a speedy recovery, health, and longevity at the helm of the Church.
The Patriarch expressed to His brothers and fellow Hierarchs his deep gratitude for the manifestations of their respect, love, and support and, on the occasion, refuted the rumors that His intention was to resign from the Throne for health reasons.
On behalf of the Hierarchy, Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi, who during the period of absence of the Ecumenical Patriarch served as Patriarchal Vicar, thanked God for the full restoration of the Ecumenical Patriarch’s health and wished Him longevity and strength in His duties.
Earlier, the Ecumenical Patriarch received the Ambassador of Austria in Ankara, Johannes Wimmer, with whom he had, in a cordial atmosphere, a discussion on issues of mutual interest.
