The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew spoke by telephone with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, warmly congratulating him on the 18th anniversary of his election to the archiepiscopal throne. During the call, the Patriarch conveyed his heartfelt wishes for good health and many years of life, praying that Archbishop Ieronymos may continue his primatial ministry with the same blessing and dedication that have marked his service thus far.
On February 7, 2026, eighteen years were completed since the election of Archbishop Ieronymos II to the throne of the Church of Greece.
Archbishop Ieronymos (born Ioannis Liapis) was elected on February 7, 2008, by the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, succeeding the late Archbishop Christodoulos. His enthronement took place a few days later, on February 16, 2008.
