Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew departed today for Rome.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will visit Rome to take part in an Interfaith Meeting organized by the Community of Sant ‘Egidio on October 20, 2020, with the central theme: “No one is saved alone – Peace and fraternity”.
The Ecumenical Patriarch will meet with Pope Francis and will also pay a ceremonial visit to the Ambassadors of Turkey and Greece to the Vatican.
During his visit, the Ecumenical Patriarch will be accompanied by Metropolitan Emmanuel of France, Bishop Kassianos of Aravissos and Patriarchal Deacon Jacob Krochak.
He will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy at 9:30 a.m. at the Amphitheatre of the Pontifical University of Antonianum in Rome on October 21. The event will be held in accordance with the provisions for the prevention of the COVID-19 epidemic and will be live-streamed on YouTube.
