On the occasion of Greek Independence Day, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended a formal reception at the Sismanoglio Megaron, the historic building that houses the General Consulate of Greece in Constantinople.
The reception, held on the evening of March 25, was hosted by Mr. Konstantinos Koutras, Ambassador and Consul General of Greece in the City. Patriarch Bartholomew conveyed the congratulatory wishes of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Orthodox community (Omogeneia) to Mr. Koutras, marking the national celebration with warm expressions of unity and shared heritage.
Earlier that morning, the Patriarchate was represented at the Consulate by the Grand Protosyncellus, Archimandrite Grigorios, who presided over the official Doxology and memorial service (Trisagion) held in honor of the day.
