Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended the Divine Liturgy on Saturday, January 11, 2025, officiated by Metropolitan Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos. During the service, a memorial was held for the repose of the soul of the late Leonidas Asteris, the former Protopsaltis of the Great Church of Christ.
The service was attended by Archpriests Elder Demetrios of the Princes’ Islands, Sotirios of Canada, Eirinaios of Myriophyton and Peristasis, Chrysostomos of Myra, Paisios of Leros, Kalymnos and Astypalaia, Athenagoras of Kydonia, Maximos of Selyvria, Andreas of Saranta Ekklisies, Theodoros of Seleucia, Hadrian of Halicarnassus, members of the Patriarchal Court, friends of the deceased, and faithful from Constantinople.
A memorial reception followed in the Throne Room, where the Ecumenical Patriarch spoke with heartfelt emotion about the late Leonidas Asteris, reflecting on his devoted ministry as Archon Protopsaltes of the Great Church of Christ.
