On the occasion of the forthcoming feast of St. Ivan of Rila the Wonderworker, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy at the homonymous church of the Bulgarian Parish of Constantinople in Sisli on Sunday, October 18, 2020.
Metropolitan Emmanuel of France and many believers from the Bulgarian parish attended the Divine Liturgy.
The priest in charge of the Bulgarian Community of Constantinople, Archimandrite Charalambos Nichev, and the President of the Bulgarian parish, Vassilios Liaze, addressed the Ecumenical Patriarch. In his reply, the Ecumenical Patriarch pointed out the continued and unwavering interest and care of the Mother Church for all its spiritual children, regardless of their national origin, both in its seat and all the area under its jurisdiction. Taking the opportunity provided by the presence of journalists from Bulgaria, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew sent cordial greetings to the Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Neofit, as well as his patriarchal wish and blessing to the beloved Bulgarian people. Concluding his speech, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew urged the faithful to be united and in harmony and to observe and implement all the measures recommended by the competent health authorities as a shield against the pandemic.
