On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended prayerfully the Divine Liturgy alongside Archbishop Georgios of New Justinian and All Cyprus at the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi in Balikli.
Immediately afterwards, he warmly welcomed the Archbishop and a group of pilgrims from Megalonison, Greece, who had recently completed a pilgrimage to Cappadocia, Sylevria, and Constantinople.
Addressing the pilgrims, he conveyed the love of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and extended the patriarchal and paternal blessings to them and their families.
The two Primates had a similarly cordial meeting at the Monastery’s hegumenion. Subsequently, in the presence of the Archbishop and the pilgrims, the Ecumenical Patriarch celebrated a Trisagion at the tomb of his late predecessor, Patriarch Athenagoras, marking the 52nd anniversary of his passing.
