The Theological School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the auspices of the Church of Greece, will host an international theological conference titled “Orthodox Theology in the 21st Century: Challenges and Prospects” from November 24 to 28, 2024.
The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 24, at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the University of Athens. Distinguished guests, including the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, will attend. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will deliver the keynote address, titled “The Mission and Work of the Orthodox Church and Theology in the 21st Century.”
The conference will feature prominent hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, including Archbishop Makarios of Australia. On Tuesday, November 26, Archbishop Makarios will present a highly anticipated paper on “Artificial Intelligence and Orthodox Theology,” exploring the intersection of technology and faith.
This significant event promises to address critical theological issues and provide a platform for dialogue about the challenges and opportunities facing Orthodox theology in a rapidly changing world.
