The Vespers Service of the Resurrection was solemnly celebrated on Easter Sunday morning, May 2, 2021.
After being dressed in the hierarchical vestments in the Hearing Hall of the Patriarchate, the Ecumenical Patriarch went to the Patriarchal Cathedral to preside over the Vespers service, accompanied by Metropolitans Meliton of Philadelphia, Eirinaios of Myriofyton and Peristasis, Chrysostomos of Myra, Andreas of Saranda Ekklisies, Ioakeim of Bursa, as well as the clergy of the Patriarchal Court.
The Ecumenical Patriarch read the Gospel in Greek and then it was read by hierarchs and clergy of the Ecumenical Throne, as well as representatives of other Christian communities of Constantinople, in various languages.
The Consul General of Greece in Constantinople, Georgia Sultanopoulou, with her spouse, Ambassador Ioannis Raptakis, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevgheniy Yenin, along with executives of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Constantinople, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, led by the Secretary-General of Brotherhood of Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate “Panagia Pammakaristos,” Konstantinos Delikostantis, Archon Didaskalos of the Great Church of Christ, and many faithful from Constantinople and abroad attended the service.
