Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands celebrated Easter at the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Brussels, in compliance with all the COVID-19 restrictive measures.
The Orthros and the Divine Liturgy were performed behind closed doors and earlier than the established time, to allow the faithful to worship and receive the Holy Communion. During the service, many languages were heard to show the universality of the Easter message.
The Easter service was attended by the Ambassador of Greece to Belgium Dionysios Kalambrezos with his wife and the Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schoinas.
At the end of the Service, Metropolitan Athenagoras wished the joy of the Resurrection to be a continuous experience in the lives of the faithful and to transmit it to the people around them, as well as this year’s Easter to be the last with empty temples.
