A mild earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was recorded shortly after midnight on Mount Athos.
According to the seismographic station of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the earthquake occurred in the sea area a few kilometers west of Karyes, with the focal depth estimated at 6 km.
The tremor struck at 00:17, and ten minutes later a second earthquake, measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale, was recorded near the Monastery of St. Panteleimon, with a focal depth of 7 km.
