On the occasion of the national holiday on the 21st of July (Belgian National Day), Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium was present as the representative of the Orthodox Church in Belgium at the Doxology service.
The ceremony took place at the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Brussels, presided by the Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels, Cardinal Jozef De Kesel.
King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, their four children attended the Doxology, as well as Prime Minister Charles Michel, ministers of the government and other figures in the political, judicial and diplomatic field.
A reception was hosted at the ceremony hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the Metropolitan of Belgium had the opportunity to talk with politicians and diplomats.
