The Diocese of Toliara and Southern Madagascar has issued a dramatic appeal for prayer and support following protests in the capital, Antananarivo, over frequent power outages and water shortages, which escalated into violent clashes.
In his message, Bishop Prodromos said: “My beloved brothers, in Madagascar these last hours are filled with anxiety and trial; there is an uprising and people are distressed, and our soul aches deeply. In the midst of this turmoil we turn our eyes only to Christ, the Prince of Peace, and we beseech Him to send His light and to calm the hearts of all.”
The bishop made a heartfelt plea: “With humility I ask you: support us with your prayer. Let your voice become prayer, so that where there is turmoil now, peace may reign, and where there is sorrow, hope may blossom. I thank you all very much for your love and support.”
