A friend of the Mission said the missionary: “I would like to send some pairs of children’s shoes. What is their shoe size?”
The missionary replied, “Send us large size shoes, please.”
“How come?” the man wondered.
“That is how it is. The children will be using that pair of shoes for a very long time. Distances in Africa are huge and, therefore, it will take more than a year before I will be able to see those children again so as to give them what you send us. Meanwhile, children are growing up. That is why we prefer giving them large size shoes that are attached to the foot with pegs. It seems weird and unfair but this is how it is,” the missionary explained.
