Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East welcomed the Mufti of Tripoli, Sheikh Mohammad Tarek Imam, and the Mufti of Akkar, Sheikh Zaid Bakr Zakariya, envoys of the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, to the Patriarchal Residence in Balamand.
The envoys conveyed the Grand Mufti’s condolences to the Patriarch for the martyrs of Saint Elias Church in Doueila, expressing his condemnation of acts that violate the sanctity of human life, which is sacred in all religions.
In turn, the Patriarch thanked the Dar al-Fatwa for supporting the Church of Antioch, emphasizing its national role. He requested that his greetings be conveyed to the Grand Mufti.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of promoting open and tolerant religious discourse in an era where fanaticism floods social media platforms.
