Patriarch John X of Antioch received a delegation from the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Mr. Tristan Azbej, State Secretary for Aid to Persecuted Christians and the official responsible for Hungarian assistance in the Office of the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed the situation of the Church amid ongoing regional developments, with particular attention to the circumstances in Syria. Patriarch John X emphasized the essential role of the Church in rebuilding communities, stressing the importance of participatory engagement among all components of society in shaping the future of Syria.
Patriarch John expressed the Church’s deep appreciation for Hungary’s support of Christian presence, noting both the moral solidarity and the humanitarian assistance provided by the Hungarian government.
The conversation highlighted shared concerns, ongoing challenges, and the hope for continued cooperation to strengthen resilience, coexistence, and peace throughout the region.
