On April 12, 2026, Patriarch John X of Antioch received the Governor of Damascus, Maher Marwan Edlibi, who visited the Patriarchate at the head of an official delegation.
During the meeting, the Governor conveyed the Easter greetings and best wishes of Ahmed al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, to the Patriarch.
In response, Patriarch John X expressed his gratitude to the President and the Governor for their greetings, voicing his hope that the feast of Pascha would bring goodness to Syria and peace to the wider region.
