With the blessing of Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, daily memorial services have commenced at the tomb of Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia at Sioni Cathedral in Tbilisi.
For forty consecutive days, clergy will perform memorial prayers (panikhida) for the repose of the late Patriarch’s soul, accompanied by church chanters. This period follows the Orthodox tradition of continuous prayer for the departed during the first forty days after death.
The faithful will have the opportunity to enter the cathedral and pay their respects at the Patriarch’s tomb ежедневно from 08:00 to 22:00.
Divine services will also be celebrated daily in the cathedral. In this context, memorial services will be offered continuously by clergy from 11:00 to 16:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00, ensuring uninterrupted prayer in memory of the late spiritual leader of the Georgian Church.
